‘Organic Cities’ (Butler Records) is a collection of songs, written and arranged by songrwiter Maartje Teussink. Played with different instruments, layers are recorded on English lyrics, wich tell from travelling through cities, from place to place. It took almost a year to finish the album completely, a lot of time went in to the detailed finishing touch of the arrangements, what instruments should be central, how does it support and strengthen the lyrics, but also what’s the value of an instrument sounding by itself, how can it give space and room to a whole, an image as a song, colour by colour, song by song;
After a couple self-handled releases, the 19-track album was integrated in several theatre productions in the Netherlands and abroad. The album was written and produced by Maartje Teussink herself and contains different layer by layer recorded arrangements and English sung lyrics. The development and the recording of the songs, the artwork and lyrics, was realized during travels between different cities between 2016-2018. The title ‘Organic Cities’ is a name for music as a binding and constant factor in an always changing time and place. The songs give an impression of a constant world of emotions while gathering impressions and experience in a city-moving world.
